Productivity. It’s honestly the bane of your life when you have ADHD!!
With symptoms such as procrastination, overwhelm and shiny object syndrome, actually sitting down to complete your tasks for the day can be incredibly difficult when you have ADHD.
With so many people online talking about different ‘productivity hacks’ that never work, I decided to create this blog post on the best ADHD entrepreneur tips for productivity.
These are tried and tested with our ADHD clients (and myself) to help increase the amount of work that they get done during the day.
Body Doubling
Firstly on this list of ADHD tips for productivity is…body doubling!
Body doubling is an ADHD tool that all ADHD entrepreneurs should be utilising.
Body doubling is where you mirror somebody else’s behaviour. So somebody can be working around you and that will make you feel so much more productive.
Body doubling can be done over Zoom, in a café, or with your friends or family. I find Zoom works the best!
When you work with a virtual assistant, you can book body doubling sessions with them where you can either work on tasks together or simply work separately but have that support to get tasks done.
Body doubling is particularly helpful when you have an urgent task that needs to be completed as the virtual assistant can stay on the call with you until that task is done and help you to not get distracted.

Create a Calendar

A lot of ADHDers are visual people and we really benefit from seeing things consistently.
The only problem is that you have to actually look at it! I know all about object permanence, so you can try having a digital calendar on your phone/laptop and a physical one too. But the most important thing you need to do is SET REMINDERS for everything!
Everything that goes into your calendar needs at least once reminder set for it!
By using a calendar and reminders, you will have far more structure and routine to your day.
And again, your virtual assistant can help to manage your calendar to ensure that tasks are being completed on time!
Book a 9 AM Meeting
Booking a 9 AM meeting is a tool that I discovered after hiring my own virtual assistant and it completely transformed my life.
The main ADHD issue I had was feeling productive and getting ready to go in the mornings and having a 9 AM meeting helps to keep me accountable.
By having this meeting, it means I have to get ready and in a ‘work-flow’ for that day. So no more slobbing around in my PJs for hours every morning!
You can have a 9 AM meeting with your virtual assistant each day to go over the tasks or you could schedule calls with a client or friend.

Being Around People Who Energise You
One of the best things we can all do to be more productive is to be around people who energise us!
When you’re self-employed and you run a business by yourself it can get very lonely and having people around you to energise you, motivate you and inspire you can make all of the difference.
If you don’t have many people in your life who are entrepreneurs, network events can be a great way to meet people! You could even contact people within your own area on Linkedin!
Finding a Routine That Works For You
Finally on this list of ADHD entrepreneur tips is to find a routine that works for you!
Many ADHDers prefer to work in the evenings which, when you’re self-employed, isn’t always a bad thing! It’s actually a perk of running your own business!
This probably will take a little bit of trial and error, but finding a routine that truly works for you can transform your business.
